Better Training Provides intensive Maths and English courses to the RAF.

Better Training was set up nearly 16 yrs ago specifically to offer Maths and English skills to the Army. For the last 10 years we have worked as a subcontractor with great success. Enabling over 2500 military personnel to achieve maths and/or English qualifications. Unfortunately the Government has slashed Adult funding leaving the college no choice but to massively cut our funding too. From teaching, in recent years, up to 350 learners per year limiting this year to only 150. From January 2026 we will no longer teach courses face to face, they will all be tutor led on Zoom. We will also only be teaching Functional skills by prior arrangement by Bases request. However we are still continuing even with this massive change. Our tutors are all very experienced with a vast depth of subject knowledge. They are very sympathetic and aim to make the learning process as painless and as effective as possible. More importantly they are determined to keep these very important courses open to the Forces. Better Training has an overall 86% pass rate (23/24), with a GCSE pass rate of 77%. This is well above the national average.
